Upgrading your car audio system doesn’t have to be expensive. With a budget car audio setup, you can enjoy better sound without breaking the bank. That’s exactly what I did for my Kancil during MCO 2.0. I found a great deal on a Bluetooth-enabled car player and paired it with a set of 3-way speakers, all for less than RM100! Here’s how I did it and how you can do the same.
Why Choose Budget Car Audio?
When I started looking for an audio upgrade, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I just needed something that could play music from a USB drive and connect to my phone via Bluetooth. The solution was simple: a budget car audio system that delivered on functionality without unnecessary frills.

Choosing the Right Budget Car Audio Player
The player I found was incredibly cheap, costing me less than RM40. Despite its low price, it came with all the features I wanted: Bluetooth, USB, SD-card slot, aux input, and even a remote control. While I didn’t expect top-of-the-line sound quality, the player did everything I needed.
Wiring the Budget Car Audio Player
For the wiring, I referred to my earlier post on Car Head Unit Wiring Installation, which explains the common wiring colors used for most car audio players. The process is straightforward, and you only need basic tools. Just follow the wiring color codes to connect the power, ground, and speaker wires to your new player.
Installing the 3-Way Speakers
Next, I installed a pair of 3-way speakers to improve sound quality. The installation was simple. I first unscrewed the 8 bolts (4 on each side) to remove the factory speakers from my Kancil. After that, I replaced them with the new speakers and connected the wiring.

The new speakers fit perfectly, and I made sure to securely screw them back into place. Once the speakers were in, I reconnected the wires and tested the system. The sound improvement was noticeable, especially with the added bass and clarity.
Test and Enjoy Your Budget Car Audio Upgrade
Once everything was connected, I powered on the system. To my surprise, the sound quality was great for the price! The Bluetooth connectivity worked flawlessly, and I could easily connect my phone for music streaming. The added convenience of USB and aux inputs also made it simple to switch between sources.

Conclusion
Upgrading your car audio doesn’t have to be an expensive venture. With a budget car audio setup like mine, you can improve the sound quality of your Kancil without spending a fortune. All it takes is some time and a few basic tools. If you’re looking to upgrade your car audio system on a budget, this is the way to go!
