Hi all! I’m planning to upgrade the suspension on my Satria, and this time I’ve decided to go with a set of HWL fully adjustable coilovers.
For many car enthusiasts, handling modifications are often the first step in a build — and the same goes for the Satria. Adjustable suspension allows you to fine-tune your car’s ride height and damping to improve both handling and comfort. Based on that, it’s time I give my Satria a long-overdue suspension refresh.
Two Sets, One Goal
If you noticed in the picture, there are actually two sets of HWL coilovers. One is for my Satria, and the other belongs to my good friend KC — who, in fact, was the one who persuaded me to jump on this upgrade.
Customization Options
When placing our order, the supplier informed us that we could customize several aspects of the suspension, including the spring rate and spring color depending on length and rate.
Here’s what we went with:
- Spring Rate:
- Front: 10K
- Rear: 6K
- Color Options:
- Rear Springs:
- 250mm 6K – Black
- 200mm 6K – Black or Orange
- Front Springs:
- 200mm or 220mm 10K – Black or Blue
- Rear Springs:
This gave us the freedom to tweak the setup for a firmer front-end response while maintaining some comfort at the rear. Aesthetically, the available spring colors were a nice bonus.
Installation Status
As of now, we haven’t installed the coilovers yet. KC will most likely get his set installed before me, as I’m still waiting on several repairs for my Satria.
Here’s what’s on my fix list before I can proceed with suspension installation:
- Replace turbo
- Repair burnt fan relay wiring
- Diagnose and fix check engine light (likely exhaust sensor)
- Replace fuel pump and sensor
- Two new rear tyres (leaning towards Bridgestone Potenza RE004)
Once those issues are resolved, the new suspension will finally go in — and I can’t wait to feel the difference it makes.
Stay tuned for the installation update and review once everything is back in shape!
