Upgrading to HWL Adjustable Suspension can drastically improve your car’s handling and ride comfort. KC decided to upgrade his Proton Persona with HWL Adjustable Suspension, along with new lower arms and tie rods, to enhance the car’s performance. This modification allows better customization of ride height and stiffness, which provides a more comfortable and controlled driving experience. Here’s how we installed it and what you need to know for your own upgrade.
Why Upgrade to HWL Adjustable Suspension?
KC opted for HWL Adjustable Suspension for several reasons. First, adjustable suspension gives you the freedom to customize your car’s ride height and stiffness, depending on your preferences. Whether you want a softer ride for daily commuting or a firmer setup for better handling, adjustable suspension provides the versatility to meet both needs. KC also decided to replace the lower arms and tie rods to ensure the suspension system is in optimal condition and functioning properly.

Removing the Original Suspension
The first step in the installation was to lift up the Persona and prepare for the removal of the stock suspension. Our trusted mechanic took care of removing the original suspension components, including the old lower arms and tie rods. After removing these parts, we were ready to install the HWL Adjustable Suspension.
Comparing the Original Suspension to HWL Adjustable Suspension
Once the original suspension was out, we compared it with the HWL Adjustable Suspension. The difference in design and functionality was clear. The new setup offered more customization options, ensuring better performance. The components also looked sturdier and were designed to handle various driving conditions.
Installation of HWL Adjustable Suspension
Installing the new suspension was straightforward for our mechanic. However, setting the right height was a bit tedious. After discussing the optimal ride height, we decided on a setting where there was a 2-inch gap between the wheel arch and the wheel. This setting provided a good balance between looks and functionality, ensuring enough clearance for the wheels while maintaining an aggressive stance.

We also adjusted the suspension stiffness to step 15, which turned out to be a comfortable setting. KC took the car for a test drive, and the ride quality was noticeably better than before. However, after the test drive, we noticed that the alignment was slightly off, so we took the car to get aligned properly.
Final Adjustments and Alignment
After installing the HWL Adjustable Suspension and adjusting the ride height, the next step was to get an alignment. KC sent his Persona to the alignment shop to ensure the wheels were properly aligned. Proper alignment is crucial for tire wear and vehicle handling, so we made sure this step was done correctly.
