Upgrading to the Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V had been on my radar for a while. With two growing kids, I knew it was time to upgrade from my compact cars to something roomier. An SUV made perfect sense. It offered more space, better visibility, and increased ride comfort. So, I began my search.
After checking out several options from different brands, the Honda CR-V stood out. It offered a solid mix of performance, features, and value. I knew it was the one.
The SST Exemption Made the Timing Perfect
Initially, I wanted to make the purchase just before Chinese New Year 2021. But then something changed. The Malaysian government announced that the SST exemption would end in December 2020. Suddenly, the timing became urgent.
Even better, Honda launched the facelifted CR-V just before the exemption ended. That model was RM16,000 cheaper than the outgoing pre-facelift version. I couldn’t ignore that kind of savings. So, I made the booking.
Within a week, all the paperwork was done. On 12th December 2020, I got the keys to my brand-new Honda CR-V. The timing couldn’t have been better.
Why I Picked the 1.5 TCP 2WD Variant
The 1.5 TCP 2WD variant hit the sweet spot. It came with everything I needed—Honda Sensing, powered tailgate, leather seats, and a panoramic sunroof. It looked and felt premium.
Sure, the 4WD version sounded nice. But I thought realistically—how often would I go off-road? If I ever wanted to, I’d rather buy a proper 4×4 truck. So, I skipped the 4WD and saved some money.
Still, owning a 4×4 remains one of my future goals. Just not today. 😄
The Honda CR-V Joins My Car Family
I already had a few cars at home. A Perodua Kancil, a Volkswagen Polo Sedan, and a Honda City. Now, the Honda CR-V proudly takes the main spot in the porch.
However, porch space is limited. Some of the older cars are now feeling a bit left out. But that’s okay—the CR-V deserves the attention. It’s now my daily driver and weekend warrior.
Final Thoughts on the Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V is one of the best decisions I’ve made for my family. It’s spacious, reliable, and packed with useful features. Best of all, I managed to buy it just before prices went up.
If you’re looking for a practical SUV that delivers value and comfort, take a good look at the CR-V. You might find, like I did, that it’s exactly what your family needs.
