After getting my rear fenders rolled (RM90 well spent!), the very next day I sent my Celica to the paint shop for a much-needed full body respray and front bumper repair. The accident damage had been bugging me for a while, and it was finally time to give this car a fresh look after years of loyal service.
I didn’t go in with a specific yellow in mind, but I was clear about one thing: I wanted the new paint to stay true to Toyota’s factory Solar Yellow — just with a pearl twist. I told the shop owner I wanted the color depth and tone to feel familiar but with a modern, pearlescent upgrade. To add some contrast and a fresh edge, the shop suggested painting the roof black — something different after 12 years of solid yellow. I agreed.
Fast forward three weeks, and the shop owner sent me some progress photos. From what I can see, the bumper repair looks solid, and the color choice is on point. It’s not a wild change, but just enough to feel refreshed and refined.
Let me know what you think of the progress so far — any suggestions for the next step?
