Tyres are the only contact point between your car and the road, so keeping them in good condition is essential — not just for performance, but more importantly, for your safety.
Here in Penang, the rainy season has been in full swing for weeks. It’s been raining almost daily — whether in the morning, evening, or even late at night. Unfortunately, my current tyres had clearly worn down, as shown in the image, and I was growing increasingly concerned about their ability to handle wet roads. After all, I do value my life.
Since my Polo sedan is my daily driver (even though I’ve been working from home since MCO 1.0 and now MCO 3.0), I decided it was time to replace the tyres. This time, the decision was quite straightforward — I had narrowed it down to either Michelin XM2+ or Hankook Ventus Prime 3. Based on my research, the Hankooks offered excellent value for money.
Unfortunately, my usual tyre shop doesn’t carry Hankook, and the nearest authorized Hankook dealer was closed on Sunday. So, I ended up going with the Michelin XM2+ in 185/60/R15, which cost me RM920 for a full set, including balancing and installation.
It’s been two weeks since the swap, and so far, the XM2+ tyres have performed well in both dry and wet conditions. I plan to share a more detailed review soon, covering noise levels, grip, and treadwear after more mileage.
