Deep Engine Cleaning Completed
After several days of patient work, the engine cleaning process has finally shown real results. With the help of strong cleaning chemicals and polishing tools, every internal engine part now looks cleaner than ever.
Let’s go through the latest progress.
The Pistons Cleaned and Inspected – No Replacements Needed
The first major update is about the pistons. I had soaked them in a chemical bath to remove years of carbon buildup. Back then, I couldn’t take any photos, they were too messy.
Now that they’re fully cleaned and polished, the pistons look almost brand new.
The best part? All pistons are still in great shape. No cracks, No damage, No excessive wear. For now, I’ve chosen not to replace them.
Reusing good OEM parts saves money. It’s a smart move for any restoration project.

Engine Cleaning – Before and After Results Are Clear
I also completed engine cleaning on the cylinder head during this phase. If you’ve followed my earlier updates, you’ll remember the heavy carbon buildup especially around the valves and combustion chambers.
My mechanic examined it and noted the buildup exceeded what he usually sees, although it remained typical for an engine of this age.
After the cleaning, the head looks dramatically better. We haven’t installed the valves yet because we’re still waiting for the new parts to arrive. Once I install the new valves, springs, and lifters, the engine will be ready for reassembly.

Missing Parts and Pending Refurbishments
Unfortunately, not every component is back in place just yet. One key item that’s still out of the picture is the valve rocker arm. It’s currently being sent out for refurbishment, as it showed signs of wear that could affect performance or longevity.
During this phase, I also replaced several small components like gaskets, seals, and fasteners that had worn out or exceeded their service life. Although I didn’t manage to photograph every change, I addressed everything that needed replacement.
Reassembly in Sight – But Still a Bit More to Go
Now that most of the engine cleaning is done, we’re approaching the final stretch. The cleaned engine block, pistons, and head are ready. Once the rocker arms and valves return from refurb and delivery, we’ll begin the careful reassembly process.
This kind of detailed engine work takes time, but it’s worth every effort to ensure reliability and performance down the road. For DIYers and enthusiasts following along, this stage is a great reminder: never underestimate the power of proper engine cleaning.

Final Thoughts
From sticky valves and low compression to spotless pistons and a gleaming engine head, this project is shaping up well.
Stay tuned for the next update where we begin reassembling the engine, piece by piece.
