Hey guys! First things first – grab a bag of chips and make yourself a warm cup of your favorite drink, because you’re about to dive into a long, heartfelt Proton Satria restoration journey.
This series is all about reviving my beloved 2002 Pearl White Proton Satria.
I’ll be documenting every stage, from towing it out of my hometown to engine overhaul and final polish.
If you’ve ever considered car restoring or you’re curious about DIY restoration projects, this Proton Satria restoration story is definitely one to follow.
Why Start a Proton Satria Restoration?
After sitting idle for a while and sustaining some minor damage, my Satria was in dire need of attention.
Instead of scrapping it, I decided to embark on a complete Proton Satria restoration. Keeping it mostly stock, but replacing all worn-out parts to make it feel like new again.
I’ve had this car for years, and the memories it holds made it impossible to let go. So, here we are — rebuilding the Satria to its former glory.
Towing My Satria from Ipoh to Penang
Once I got the green light from my mechanic, I contacted a tow truck service to bring my Proton Satria from Ipoh to Batu Maung, Penang. The towing fee was surprisingly reasonable (I’ll include all costs in the final breakdown).
Seeing the car loaded onto the tow truck was emotional. Even though it’s worn out, it’s still my favorite car and this marks the first official step of its Proton Satria restoration journey.
Arrival at the Workshop – Time to Begin the Restoration
My car arrived safely at Ipin’s Workshop in Batu Maung, and we immediately began planning the Proton Satria restoration process.
Key items on the to-do list:
- Full engine overhaul (Mitsubishi Lancer GSR 4G93T engine)
- Suspension and bushing replacement
- Underbody rust check and treatment
- Damaged part replacement
- Full respray (back to Pearl White)
At this stage, I plan to keep the car as close to stock as possible while making sure it’s reliable and roadworthy.
Why This Proton Satria Restoration Means So Much
You might wonder why I didn’t just buy another car. The answer is simple: this Satria is part of my life story.
From college road trips to learning car maintenance, this car was with me through it all. This Proton Satria restoration project isn’t just about bringing back a car — it’s about bringing back memories, pride, and joy.
What’s Next?
Stay tuned for the next update where I’ll document the engine teardown and inspection.
This Proton Satria restoration has only just begun, and I’m excited to walk you through every step of the journey.
Would you restore your first car if you had the chance? Let me know in the comments!
